This model is based on drawings of a 1939 Prairie State 17" steel string guitar. The Larsen brothers of Chicago had designed and built these guitars for the Prairie State name in the early 20th century. They were renowned for their expert quality and innovative ideas. They also constructed their instruments to last.

This is a jumbo size guitar with a distinct piano-like, ringing tone. A really amazing instrument and a big sound with plenty of sustain. Part of the even balance on this jumbo guitar is due in part to a slightly shallower body depth.

Nyberg Instruments presents a unique opportunity for enthusiasists with this guitar, built exactly to original specifications including portraying the Larsen's signature laminated x-bracing, which is 2 layers of spruce with a center ply of rosewood. This is integral to the rich sound and provides a lasting support system against years of tension on the top.The pyramid-style bridge, multi-line purfling and classic pearl inlays evoke a vintage era. This guitar also features open-geared single tuners, and a Larsen-style pyramid bridge.
